~~Ode to 2007~~

An optimist stays up until midnight to see the New Year in. A pessimist stays up to make sure the old year leaves.
It wouldn't be New Year's if I didn't have regrets.
New Year's Eve, where auld acquaintance be forgot. Unless, of course, those tests come back positive.
May all your troubles last as long as your New Year's resolutions!

Woke with a Start~~
I woke this morning from the strangest dream.
I was at a small type fair in the country.... you know the kind... hand made crafts, pie eating and polka bands.

For some reason I was driving a red truck that did not belong to me. I was backing out of a driveway when BAM some guy traveling WAY too fast creamed out the right side of the bed. He stopped and we both pulled into a country store parking lot.

I got out and noticed that there was a large portable air compressor in the bed... and a bit smashed. SHIT SHIT SHIT... this really upset me! As we stood at the counter of the store exchanging info.. my piece of paper kept getting stuck to a little swatch of maple syrup that had pooled on the counter. No matter where I moved the slip of paper to, there as another pool.

I told him he was traveling much too fast and just grinned this big silly smile and said "yup".
Somehow then I was standing in a living room that was not my home and telling 2 of my kids what had happened when we decided that it was time to let Annie out of the truck to pee.
I could not find a leash so as I was looking around the yard for rope or something and then a large artificial Christmas tree fell from the sky and just missed me.
Odd freaking dream~~~

A Quiet Christmas day~~
Christmas day was a quiet one.. Just two of my sons and myself.
The boys called about 10:30 and said they were up and adam...I expected them at about noon.. what with eye goober clean up, coffee and commute.
At 11am I hear a knock on the door...????
It's the boys.. in their jammies!
Perfect!
Gawd I love my idjets!
I had gotten up fairly early to start the bread.

The plan was to watch football and just be lazy in general.
I started the stew while the bread proofed and we just laid around with a fire and blankies ...Cuddled and petted the four furfaces and giggled like school girls. The smells were intense.
The sourdough rolls turned out faboo and disappeared quite quickly.
For dessert we made caramel apples with Oreo cookie crumbs.. mmm
It started to snow about 4:30.. we had a semi white Christmas!!
The boys made me a killer Choco-martini after the apples...I awoke at around 11:30 with a post-it note stuck to my head...
"Mommers.. we couldn't hear the TV over your snores ... we luv ya and Merry Christmas"
Kids you have to love them!
I think~~~
My Christmas jammie pants and mis-matched socks.. life is good!!!

Stretch~My Christmas Wish
I stretch myself
a white ship
stranded on the shore

released
from her mooring ropes
free
like a bird
free
like Life

I open myself
a white dove
stranded on your sheets

released
from my clothes
Wet
like the sea

Warm
like the fire
Offered
to all your desires
Merry Christmas babe

What an Eve!

First of all
Merry Christmas Eve!!
Had to work today and as usual it was a huge day... but mostly fun mail to deliver...
Had a flat in my work vehicle...an extra break!
Kiddos on the route wished me many Merry Christmas's... I love kids... they have yet to be burdened with political correctness...
Had to call SF today and break the bad news to him, I am so glad I got his voice mail~~
"Baby, I have some news for you and now I don't want you to get jealous or anything but........
someone on the route slipped me the big salami."

I can't wait to hear back from him ... heehehhe
From my house to yours ~
Have a most awesome holiday!!

A Sunday Cheesy Christmas
Today the kiddos that could make it home and I all met up at the Son's house for an early Christmas. Hardest part of your children growing up is sharing them with new and extended family, but we had a fun day.
My youngest son had to work at noon so we decided to do a breakfast and prezzie opening in the wee hours this morning. Before Daughter and I could start breakfast we cleaned up from the kids' party the night before.
New lesson my cult taught me today...
Do not mix Tequila Rose and anything carbonated...
They now believe this is the process used to make Silly Putty~~eeww
All the presents fit under it!
Breakfast was yummy and we all enjoyed cinnamon rolls, pepper bacon and scrambled eggs. His neighborhood cats and squirrels are getting a treat!
The marshmallow blasters were a hit! As was the screaming monkey toy..But that damned thing hit me in the head while making breakfast...
Some child is on next years naughty list!
Daughter and I both love to quilt... I told N to go forth and create... she misheard me and thought I said go forth and procreate... Silly girl~
Goofball posed with a beer for this shot...
N liked her quilt! Her spare bed is it's new home....
Ok I solved the "How to wrap a weight set" woe...Leave it in the trunk of my daughters car and wrap the key!!

We had such a relaxed and casual Christmas this year.....
I hope yours is as peaceful dear friends~~

The Retail Queen~~
Well I survived! Youngest daughter made it to
town with her hubby and while he hung out with the 2 youngest sons she drug my ass around town.
We had fun though....I have to admit it.
I am NOT a shopper but I caved.
We got all the little loose ends tied up, things like ammo for the marshmallows blasters ect :o)
We made it back to the kid's house-
made supper and had a great meal
and lots of giggles... oh and cheesecake,,,
the family favorite.
[we aint the "house of cheese" fer nuttin!]
While N and I were out shopping we broke down and got my son a Christmas tree!
Complete with a little bit of .59 tinsel and a cute pair
of Holiday earrings as ornaments!
Hopefully he has better luck with plants than his mommers does....

Holiday Tea
Today was a gurlie gurl day!
I traveled to Vancouver to meet up with some girlfriends of mine for our annual Christmas Tea. It's a hoot to do get dolled up [well as dolled up as I get]and get together with my female friends and eat stuff we shouldn't!
And it is grand to get to try new recipes and drink Mimosas at 10am!!!

Getting in the Spirit???
It has been difficult for me to get into the Christmas spirit this year.
Well MOST years since I started working for the PO.. and since the kids have moved out even more.
Sunday I got a spark!
I ran a little errand for SF and was victorious and now I am on a roll!
Today.....
I stopped off at a Christmas tree lot and got flocked!

I ran through the streets screaming....
"I'm a knotty pine~ I'm a knotty pine"
I AM a naughty pine!!!

Valley Update....
Well the storm of the decade has come and gone.
We here in the lower valley got some huge rains and
even bigger winds. Casa del Cheese only sustained mild
damage and lost power for a bit but
all in all I am one of the lucky ones.
Unless I want to travel anywhere except for work!
To the north I5 is close north of Portland due to flooding..under ten feet of Chehalis River water. I hear possibly by tomorrow it will reopen.
Sadder still is the road just south of me and over the hill.... one of my favorite routes... to the damned beach!
Wednesday contractors began removing three house-size boulders and 3,000 cubic yards of rock and mud blocking both lanes of Highway 38 between Elkton and Reedsport. Heavy rains triggered the slide, which covered a 300-foot section of roadway about nine miles west of Elkton. Clearing the road will take several days and more than 300 dump-truck loads they say.
So for now if I need to get away I suppose I'll either go to work... or east!

Tuesday Tee-Hee

Bono, lead singer of the rock band U2, is famous throughout the entertainment industry for being more than just a little self-righteous. At a recent U2 concert in Glasgow, Scotland, he asked the audience for total quiet. Then, in the silence, he started to slowly clap his hands, once every few seconds. Holding the audience in total silence, he said into the microphone, "Every time I clap my hands, a child in Africa dies.".........

A voice with a broad Scottish accent from the front of the crowd pierced the quiet...

"Well, foockin stop doin it then, ya evil bastard!"

What a week~~
I have been having connection woes at the home front but just changed providers tonight... This is my test post!! lol
This time of year is the busiest for me... Lots of catalogs and the beginnings of customers Christmas orders and presents being mailed. Not to mention Christmas cards! [the fun-ish part].
Been working 10-12 hours a day but weaseled my way out of having to work my day off....My sis had surgery Thursday morning so I hopped in the truck for the 3 hour drive to Portland to hold my Mom's hand and keep her calm through the ordeal. She did well and Sis is doing pretty good. She got to come home already and is healing slow but sure. She tried to talk the Dr.'s into letting her take the "click ahhhhh" machine home... she didn't pull that one off.
But I did make time for a hair cut!! Much needed~~
This morning was an early early start day...Food drive this and next Saturday. I let the pups out to eat and do their business before leaving then called them back in... and this is what greeted me~~My great muddy mole hunter....
What a muddy mess....
HA~~ This pic makes her look loony..
What a doofus....
Do you think he somehow knew I was not pleased?
Well it is time for me to go move my two furfaced bed warmers and get some rest.....

Got to rest up for NEXT week!
