Memphis!!

My niece's Boyfriend has qualified for a huge event. He and "The Band" are off to Memphis to compete in the "International Blues Challenge".

They only get to be there from Thursday the 5th- Sunday the 8th. Anyone have ideas from past experience as to the city's highlights that are MUST SEE or the best places to eat. I told Kayla I would shout out to my friends for ideas!

Going Green-er~~

Ok I AM a bit of a hippy type but..

I shave.

So to keep up with Moonray, Ziggy, Rainbow, Dharma, Echo, and
Butterfly ~~~ [My hippychick neighbors] ~~~I have decided to make my life a little greener one step at a time...

I decided to start with the simple things around my home..
Let's see how many things that use caustic batteries I can eliminate.

Today is History!

Martin Luther King~~

A genuine leader is not a searcher for consensus but a molder of consensus.

A man who won't die for something is not fit to live.

A riot is the language of the unheard.

An individual who breaks a law that conscience tells him is unjust, and who willingly accepts the penalty of imprisonment in order to arouse the conscience of the community over its injustice, is in reality expressing the highest respect for the law.

At the center of non-violence stands the principle of love.

I have a dream that one day on the red hills of Georgia the sons of former slaves and the sons of former slave owners will be able to sit down together at a table of brotherhood.

Faith is taking the first step, even when you don't see the whole staircase.

Hatred paralyzes life; love releases it. Hatred confuses life; love harmonizes it. Hatred darkens life; love illuminates it.

In the end, we will remember not the words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends.

It may be true that the law cannot make a man love me, but it can stop him from lynching me, and I think that's pretty important.

A nation that continues year after year to spend more money on military defense than on programs of social uplift is approaching spiritual death.

The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy.

Peace is not merely a distant goal that we seek, but a means by which we arrive at that goal.

I have a dream that my four children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.

You know it's cold when...

You know it's cold when after you get all ready for work you notice that you have put your underwear on inside out due to the fact the retarded furfaces closed your bedroom door sometime during the night and the wood stove heat did not reach your room...You are speedily dressing before your yooo-hooo lips quick- freeze shut... and you are now dressed and warm and no way in hell am I exposing myself to nekkedness again just to turn them right side out!

WHEW ok canine rant over... they are forgiven and good babies again...

I'm such a sucker for the sad eyes treatment. Good thing they are cute as they would make LOVELY purses and hats.

For you all caught in cold worse than here I'm sending warming golden retriever hugs...

Movie review~~

"The Unborn" was deliciously scary!

Not Oscar material but scared the crap out of Bella and I.
I give it 4 stars for the fear factor and 3 for story line.

I won't give away the plot... but....

Bella and I both yelled "WHAT THE HELL??" at the end hehehe~

If you like them eerie go see it at the theater. Wasn't terribly gory although it implied a lot of gore. Was a blessing that we gurlies weren't the only ones in the theater hollering and screeching and hiding our faces. Was a kick in the ass that most in the room made the same noises lol.

Dinner at Chili's after was a nice way to clear our minds of the movie before bed time! Chicken finger tacos and a shared Lava cake did the trick!
We had a great Gurlie date and I am loving getting to know my son's GF. She is a joy.

What a week....

Hola babies!
My six days straight of bringing joy and bills has come to an
end... thank the powers that be!

Lots of goings on have been passing through my family the last couple of weeks so here it goes~

My Daughter flew off to Peru on the 1st.. Her and the hubby went to visit his parents and tour the area.
Her Mom-in-law is teaching there for a year and treated the kids with tickets for Christmas. But she neglected to send me mine. What's up with that?

It has been a treat to get e-mails from her along the trek. Gawd I love technology. I have been stressing a wee bit while she is away. Just my Mommers gene kicking in . Today she starts her long trip home and I for one can't wait to have her back on Oregon soil... And see her pictures!
The Boys and I gathered with some of my family over last weekend as we didn't get to spend the holidays due to the weather. I was once again reminded I am a WII-tard but we did have a blast playing and visiting. Even got my Mom to play! She gives up too easily though. But maybe she will get the bug if my sis keeps hounding her to play... hehehe she is very good at hounding.

We had a small gift exchange and for once what I brought made a hit!
My "How to Juggle" book and starter kit got stolen 3 times! But everyone enjoyed playing with it.
Son's GF was a natural!

I was able to visit with SF last Friday.. a MUCH overdue visit. It had been 2 long months and it was so sweet to see his sparkling eyes and touch his face again. We both have far flung families and the holiday months are always difficult to find time to travel to see each other. Well that and the crazy ass weather made it even more difficult. Such are the woes of long distance relationships.. but I always love the time we can find to spend with each other. It just seems to get better and better no matter how long the spans in time.

My hands are finally feeling a little more normal. The temps have climbed out of the freezing range and the sun actually made an appearance yesterday! That or it was an asteroid raging toward the earth but I woke to a peaceful morning so I'm thinking it was the sun.
Flooding is now a horrible woe here in the PNW but so far we here in the valley have been skipped by the horrendous water damage.

Ok it's time for me to warm up my coffee cup... do dishes for hand warmth therapy.. and take a long hot bubble bath. I need to feel girlie today.
I have a date!
Now it IS with my son's GF but still.. I need to find some nice clothes that AREN'T blue and have some fun with the family. I told the menfolk that they are all pussys due to the fact they don't want to go see "The Unborn" with Bella and I.
So we will hold each others hands and jump, scream, spill our popcorn and pee our pants a little without them.....
MEN!

Stick out like a Sore Thumb~`

Typing is difficult due to the way I have over-stressed my hands the last couple of weeks.
With the cold weather and backlog of mail, my thumb joints have taken a beating.
Must be time to invest in some hand braces and be mindful of trying to warm my hands more often during the day. Thankfully the weather has warmed a bit and we are FINALLY caught up with the mailing delayed due to airport closures!
I have a 6 day work week but at least it will be closer to 8 hour days and not 12.
I have been trying to get extra sleep this week so I don't encounter more woes such as the bugs flying around and attacking respiratory function and rest up so I don't turn into the raving redhead from hell~
Well maybe sleep won't cure that but a girl can dream.

Please be kind...send me a hand masseuse someone PLEASE!?!

Mind Play

In those murky hours
Between nightfall and first light
As my body lies still

My mind is eternally at play
Dancing between scenes
Of the bizarre and fantasy

Replaying and distorting
The norm and the obscene
Distorting the bonds of reality

I recognize a moment or two
Of sweetest déjà vu as
I feel a lover's touch

And glimpse a gaze
From eyes as blue
And hot as flame

I shudder and sigh
And roll into the embrace
Of those fantasia arms

Surrendering to the moment
Reveling in the ecstasy
Losing myself in the feelings

And just as I begin
To recognize the flavor
Of my lover's kiss

I find myself awakening
To discover that it was
Just a dream after all
